Symptoms of Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is a very prevalent condition in the United States and can present in many ways:

-Pain! Foot and/or heel pain.  Symptoms of plantar fasciitis can vary, but in general the first few steps taken when you get out of bed in the morning are very painful. The fascia stretches from the ball of the foot to the heel and there can be sharp pain on the bottom of the foot, then as you start to move the foot loosens up a bit and pain starts to subside.

-Callouses on the bottom of the foot indicates more weight on this part than the rest of the foot and may be indicative of plantar fasciitis.

-Bunions, or dry thick heels can indicate pressure on that part of the foot and can become a problem over time.

-Check your arches and see if there is indication that they have dropped and are not supporting you the way they used to. The video will illustrate testing the arch to see if you are still getting good support.

Chiropractors treat more than just the spine, and have had success treating foot problems like plantar fasciitis.

Chiropractic Treatment of Plantar Fasciitis

A good chiropractor can use many effective chiropractic techniques to treat plantar fasciitis successfully, for the long term. Here is a list of possible treatments:

– Adjustments or manipulation can be done to any of the twenty four bones of the foot.

– Soft tissue therapies open up the tissues of the fascia to relieve pain and tightness.

– Active release involves getting the patient to actively move while the soft tissues have pressure applied to restore function of that area and decrease pain.

– Orthotics can be used to raise arches and restore normal function to the foot and I can order these customized for you if needed.

Foot pain can get worse over time so please come in for a chiropractic evaluation if you are experiencing any of these symptoms.
