Healthy Children, Naturally

Holistic pediatrics is an approach that addresses the whole child, emphasizing the interconnection between body and mind.  This holistic approach focuses on wellness and  disease prevention in order  to strengthen the child’s ability to self-heal.

At NIHA, we are proud to offer medical care for your child that is thorough and extensive.  We provide extended visits if needed in order to foster a long-term healthcare relationship.

Caring for the Whole Child

In assessing a child, the pediatrician or naturopath will inquire not only about health history and symptoms, but will also ask about your child’s diet, exercise, stress, sleep, home and school environment, spiritual and emotional well-being. This is a comprehensive holistic approach.

Increasing numbers of children are suffering from chronic conditions such as asthma, allergies, ADHD, autism, diabetes and obesity, and even stress, anxiety and depression.  Toxicities, diet, genetics, GI issues and/or nutritional deficiencies and on-going stress may be underlying causes or exacerbate these conditions.

During your visit with the doctor, a plan of care will be formulated.  Every child (just like every adult) is very unique.  If lab tests are deemed necessary and ordered for your child, we have an on-site lab within the office.

Your doctor’s plan of care may include a nutrition plan or dietary modifications, other lifestyle recommendations, or herbals, medications, or supplements. Our physicians will prescribe traditional medications if needed,  but many parents prefer to start with a less invasive natural option.
