Dental Veneers

Dental veneers are a key component of cosmetic dentistry. Veneers are thin shells that cover the front surface of the teeth to improve their appearance. They can be made of porcelain or composite resin, and they can fix various cosmetic problems, such as chipped, stained, gaps or misaligned teeth. Veneers are stain-resistant and durable. Porcelain veneers, in particular, are resistant to stains from coffee, tea, wine, and tobacco. They can also last for 10 to 15 years with proper care and maintenance. Composite resin veneers are less durable and stain-resistant than porcelain veneers, but they are also cheaper and easier to repair.

Dental veneers can enhance the color, shape, size, and alignment of the teeth.  They can also make the teeth look more symmetrical and proportional. Dental veneers can create a natural and beautiful smile that boosts the confidence and self-esteem of the patient.

Benefits of Dental Veneers:

  • Stain resistant
  • Durable, can last for 10-15 years
  • No special maintenance although it is advisable to avoid biting hard objects such as ice, nuts, pens to prevent chipping
  • Minimally invasive process

A main benefit of dental veneers is that they are minimally invasive and relatively painless. Depending on the type of veneer, the dentist may need to remove a thin layer of enamel from the tooth surface to make room for the veneer. This process is usually done under local anesthesia and does not cause much discomfort. Some types of veneers, such as no-prep veneers, do not require any tooth preparation or alteration and can be applied directly over the enamel. In either case, the patient can enjoy their new smile in just two or three visits to the dentist.

Invisalign Clear Braces for adults and teens

Many people seek a cosmetic dentist to straighten their teeth. Invisalign is a clear solution for straightening teeth used by adults and teens. Removable aligners gradually move teeth into place and are easy to wear and remove for cleaning. Clear retainers are appropriate for teens and adults.

Professional Teeth Whitening with Cosmetic Dentistry

We all want a healthy, white smile!

NIHA’s cosmetic dentists can whiten teeth in the office using Phillips Zoom professional whitening, a quick system that whitens several shades lighter, or using at-home whitening kits. Sometimes, patients will combine both systems to maintain a beautiful bright smile.

Replace Those Missing Teeth with Ceramic Dental Implants

Your teeth serve many functions.  Obviously they are critical for chewing and esthetics but more importantly if teeth are not replaced especially posterior or back teeth, that empty space will allow neighboring teeth to drift into the space formerly occupied by the extracted tooth. Without replacing that missing tooth the neighboring teeth above and to the sides will move into that space altering the way your teeth come together.  That altered bite changes jaw alignment, blood flow to and from the brain as well as alters the nervous system function throughout the head and neck. Bite changes will eventually disrupt the TMJ or jaw joint.
