The Holistic Dentist says: Consider Invisalign for Straighter Teeth

by | Nov 11, 2009 | Cosmetic Dentistry, Holistic Dentistry, Integrative Health Blog

Straight Teeth Contribute to Good Oral Health

According to an epidemiological study done by the National Center for Health Statistics, NCHS, 75% of people in the United States need their teeth straightened.

Strait teeth are not just for good photos and cosmetic reasons! Strait teeth contribute to good oral health, the ability to chew, speak, clean teeth properly, jaw alignment, the palate, and even sleep quality. Teeth that align can be cleaned more easily to avoid plaque build-up and prevent tooth decay and periodontal disease.

What is Invisalign® ?

Invisalign® is an aesthetic orthodontic treatment developed for teens and adults. It consists of a series of clear custom made removable aligners that will gradually shift your teeth into the desired position. The aligners are virtually invisible, comfortable and removable. You can brush and floss regularly. The patient wears each set for 2 week intervals and the aligner should be worn for 24 hours and only removed for eating and oral hygiene. Invisalign® treatment has less pain than traditional orthodontics. It also has reduced risk of decalcification unlike traditional braces. Via computer technology, the patient can also visualize their end result.

The material used in the aligners and retainers has been tested and shown to be bio-compatible. They do not contain Bisphenol-A nor phathalate plasticizers.

Invisalign® can be used to treat a variety of dental problems such as generalized spacing, crowding, diastema closure (space between the two front teeth), deep bite, etc.

If you always desired a confident, stunning smile but did not want to wear visible braces, you may be a good candidate for Invisalign®. See  Cosmetic dentistry for more information and to schedule your free consultation.
