NIHA is pleased to announce the addition of Sherif Hassan, M.D., functional medicine physician, to the medical team.
Dr. Hassan’s wide and comprehensive experience in medical practice in different international settings coupled with his personal experience as a patient suffering from Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) changed his focus to a more interesting and spurned area: Undiagnosed Chronic Medical Disorders. His own Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) went not only undiagnosed, but caused him to undergo two unnecessary surgeries. From this experience as both physician and patient he can empathize with patients as they search for the underlying cause of ailments. This experience changed his outlook on medicine to a more fulfilling and rewarding medical philosophy whereby wellness is now the cornerstone of his practice.
Functional Medicine
As an internist, Dr. Sherif Hassan practices Functional Medicine and Precision Medicine to identify and treat the root cause of illness, foster proper prevention and adapt treatment. Furthering the goal of Personalized and Precision Medicine, he has developed a Personal Wellness Program utilizing advanced screening assessment tools to assess health status in many areas such as fitness, nutrition, body composition and the musculoskeletal system. A Personal Wellness Plan is then developed incorporating necessary changes, and this program has been successful for patients with positive changes seen in as little as a few months.
