Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is an ancient therapeutic modality known for enhancing the flow of body fluid, reducing muscular tension and promoting relaxation. Through the physical manipulation of the muscles, ligaments, and connective tissue, massage creates a total sense of well-being and is effective for combating and relieving stress.

Massage is beneficial for managing stress, inducing relaxation, Chronic Pain Management, Structural Integration, Muscular Assessment, Headache Relief, Frozen Shoulder Release, TMJ challenges and unwinding stress from working at a computer or desk.

Therapeutic massage is a focused type of massage designed to address the source of pain. Often the place where we are experiencing structural pain is not where the challenge originates from, and pain may often be "referred" from another area. Several different massage techniques can be combined to customize a treatment plan with the intention of highlighting and relieving these lines of tension. The more connections that we can make within the body, the greater the opportunity for lasting minimization of symptoms.

Massage therapy has an impressive range of physical, mental, and emotional benefits.

Types of Therapeutic Massage Offered

Swedish Massage is a flowing, soft, yet firm massage treatment that uses gliding strokes which promotes circulation, reduces muscle tension and relaxes the body and mind.

Swedish with Deep Tissue Massage is a relaxing massage that applies a variety of Swedish massage techniques which includes pressure at tight muscle areas and gliding strokes. It applies pressure at knots which are sometimes called trigger points.

Deep Tissue Massage aims to relieve chronic muscular stress in the deep layers of the muscular system.

Lymphatic Drainage Manual Therapy Massage  is gentle bodywork that activates lymph circulation to stimulate the functioning of the immune system and parasympathetic nervous system. Lymphatic drainage manual therapy massage is a specialized body work technique that applies repetitive pressure at lymph node sites and a stroking technique along lymph vessels that stimulates the movement of lymph fluid. This therapy assists with post surgical swelling and inflammation due to numerous heath complaints such as sinusitis, arthritis, gastritis, back pain, neck pain and more.

Oncology Massage  is a form of gentle massage designed to meet the specific needs of this population. It uses the same basic techniques as general massage, but it is tailored to improve wellbeing, relieve tension,  improve circulation, and relieve pain.  In addition, it is beneficial in reducing anxiety and depression.

Neuromuscular Therapy (Trigger Point Release) provides relief from Myofascial Trigger points. When trigger points develop in the body they can pull other muscles out of place and cause referral pains. Trigger points are common in desk workers and people who spend a lot of time driving.

Myofascial Release targets the muscle and fascial systems, and promotes flexibility and mobility of the body's connective tissues. Likewise, it mobilizes fibrous adhesions and reduces the severity and sensitivity of scarring caused by injury or surgery.

Reiki is a Japanese hands-on healing technique for stress reduction and relaxation. This touch method uses chi (energy) to bring balance and improve health. The practitioner applies a light touch to the client or works slightly above the body in the client’s energy field. This approach to energy healing connects with the subtle energy of life to feed and balance the body’s own subtle energy system, leading to greater well-being. During a session the mind and body attains a peaceful, restful state which empowers the body’s natural healing abilities to occur, while the client relaxes on a massage table, staying fully dressed with their shoes off.

Acupressure  uses light to moderate pressure which is applied to acupuncture points with the thumb, fingers, palms, forearms and elbows. Acupressure helps to bring the body into balance.

Acu-Reiki is the use of Acupressure combined with Reiki. This therapy combination balances energy systems, provides relaxation and supports health. It also works on the energy systems to clear blockages and helps put the body back in balance.
